Beach and River Sampling

In January 2000, at the request of the St. Lucie County Commission and the Office of Public Safety, the Health Department implemented routine river and beach sampling. In conjunction with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department Marine Patrol, samples are taken at various locations in the Indian River as well as from county beaches. Samples are analyzed for enterococci as well as fecal coliform bacteria. Testing is done at the Health Department's state certified laboratory in Fort Pierce. The results are updated twice monthly at: http://esetappsdoh.doh.state.fl.us/irm00beachwater/default.aspx Opens in new window.

You can also call the St. Lucie County health Department at (772) 873-4931 for information on all sites and current results. The program is funded in part through the Florida Healthy Beaches Program.
