Authority given by Florida Statute 381 and Florida Administrative Code 64E-9 (149kb PDF). is responsible for inspecting, monitoring and permitting public swimming pools and spas. There are 307 of these facilities at hotels, motels, condominiums, parks, schools and social and civic organizations.

Environmental Health staff curremtly permits and inspects those public swimming pools and spas twice each year. EH also reviews monthly reports submitted by hotels, condos and apartment complexes. This program recently received its second consecutive "Perfect" score on a state audit.
