According to Florida Medical Quality Assurance Indicator data, the disparity rate between african American diabetics in the county was reduced from 8.8% to 2.1%.
The Diabetes Coalition works closely with the medical community, faith based organizations, trained lay health promoters and other professional groups in the county. It presents an annual professional conference for medical providers, as well as participates regularly in health fairs and other community events.
